Teotihuacan, founded around 100BC, and at it's height a 'city of such grandeur and sophistication that it could easily be put on a par with Rome'. I've wanted to visit it ever since I read 'Dawn of Everything' by David Wengrow and David Graeber. They show the city to be amazing not just because of its grand monuments but also because of its egalitarian political system, and urban planning. The most interesting parts of the city are actually the apartment complexes in which people lived.
