A little birthday #minivlog 🌞 I turned 23 on the 23rd of December, and to celebrate my golden birthday my boyfriend and I roadtripped to Taupō, New Zealand! Our drive started off with a heavy rain that made it pretty hard to see in front of us, and just as we were going pull over to wait it out, we passed a cluster of big clouds and entered a beautiful sunny area. We thought the rest of our trip might be rainy but it was actually perfect weather. Our first stop was to see Huka Falls on the Waikato River. After a quick hike around the waterfalls, we then stopped upstream to go in for a quick dip in the most beautiful crystal clear water. For a lunch picnic, we went to Spa Thermal Park, and then drove to Wairakei Terraces and Thermal Health spa to end our day in mineral-rich geothermal water. Before driving back to Auckland the next day, we stopped at Orakei Korako Cave and Thermal Park. The tour begins with a quick boat ride, and then a magical walk filled with hot springs, mud pools, and more. I’m grateful to have spent this special day on the traditional lands of the Māori people, and for generations of their stewardship.
