Toxicants are implicated in the pathophysiology of chronic illness—we know this from epidemiological studies, animal models, experimental studies and clinical reports. Researcher Aristo Vojdani has written about how toxicants can promote induction or perpetuation of autoimmunity, for example, via multiple mechanisms such as formation of neoantigens as a result of covalent binding of chemicals or haptens to tissue, dysregulated cell death exposing intracellular material to antigen presenting cells leading to autoantibody formation, or oxidization of self proteins by sensitizing metal ions etc. There likewise exists ample peer-reviewed scientific literature supporting elimination of toxicants via perspiration - for example, aluminum, cadmium, cobalt and lead have all been shown to be preferentially excreted in sweat.
