I think part of it must be the inability to feel in that moment how much it all means, right? Last Christmas Eve, I flew into Venice and my trip was 100% funded through my art, I worked so hard all summer to sell as much as I could so that I could make this dream happen, and I was so surprised when it did.. when I was able to use my little art endeavor to make it happen. That’s so wild. And so last Christmas, I was exploring Italy, from Venice to Positano in a week. It was fast, exciting and full of these wonderful moments of celebration. Not only to have funded the trip through art, to have been able to bring my mom and grandma too.. but to really show myself that my anxiety does not get to win. I always wanted to be in Italy, but my anxiety had me thinking it was too far, the dream too big.. it would never happen. And so when art gets you there.. what do you do when you get back?! Make more art. This month’s postcard club envelope is all inspired by that trip- experiencing Christmas in Venice, Florence and Rome. All the magic. My whole freaking heart. I wish with every fiber of my being to go back in time to a year ago. Just to do it all over again.
