The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory in New York. High temperatures are expected until Monday 7/25. The combination of heat and humidity can be dangerous, especially for people with health conditions. Take steps to beat the heat: Drink water, wear protective layers and reapply sunscreen as instructed, seek shelter when possible. Visitors to Liberty and Ellis Island should spend quality time in the air-conditioned museums. If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of heat illness, like hot skin, trouble breathing, nausea, and confusion, please notify a crew member on the ferry or a Park Ranger or US Park Police officer while on the islands. If you are climbing 215 stairs to the pedestal, take your time. There are dozens of landings to stop and rest. Please pace your climb. We assure you, Lady Liberty is not going anywhere.
