Oh son of mine, you make me so proud. With your one ear flapped back ready to take on the world. Today was a major milestone for this pup and an even bigger one for me. Ozzie has successfully passed his gun intro and is ready to hunt. Since I got this guy many months back the goal was to have him hunt with me. I’ve only been once as a child and the experience of it turned me off to hunting for a long time. But with proper education, and figures like @stevenrinella paving a way forward for future hunters, I have grown again to appreciate what it means to be a hunter. It’s been many long months of trial and error and there were a lot of times I felt like I just wasn’t doing anything right, but I stuck with it and it paid off. I can honestly say that I haven’t been this passionate about something since I picked up a camera and started filming musicians many years ago. Working with Ozzie and learning from a dedicated hunting dog trainer has opened up a world of possibilities for what I want to do with my life. I’m looking forward to where my dog and I will explore and to the fresh and wild meals we will bring to the table together.
