"I didn't see this comparison until about 9 months into my first breastfeeding journey. When I saw it I was shocked 😯 it really helped me gain perspective of how much time and energy is put into breastfeeding — nursing, pumping, mastitis, healing the cracked nipples, dealing with a teething baby at the breast, the frustration and stress it caused at times, figuring out a feeding schedule, pumping at work, the endless hunger and thirst, defending your choice to breastfeed. Blood, sweat, tears, exhaustion, hunger - all of it! Breastfeeding moms are working a full-time job simply feeding their babies...while ALSO full-time mom-ing AND often maintaining a part-time or full-time career. It is wild the load moms take on - willingly and selflessly. I wish more people understood the toll breastfeeding can take on women. I feel like this ‘job’ often goes unnoticed, or even underappreciated. If you know a breastfeeding mama, let her know she's doing a great job.
