The very nature of orcas is to be highly social creatures. They live in tight-knit families, similar to humans. The true beauty of this species is shown in the relationship between a mother and calf. Calves remain side-by-side with their mother and siblings, like we see in this picture. Orcas are the only species in the world where most female and male offspring stay with their mothers and immediate family FOREVER. This kind of family structure only happens in the wild, whereas in captivity they are in artificial social groups and some orcas live completely alone.
