It’s #worldindigenousday, this year the theme is “The Role of Indigenous Women in the Preservation and Transmission of Traditional Knowledge” Indigenous woman all around us are leading the way. In social media, the arts, politics, land protection and activism. It is the matriarchs, the mothers, the grandmothers. Today I am celebrating by lifting up the artists. Those who are putting our culture and our stories in the mainstream. Reclaiming narratives and truth. Grandmothers, language carriers, singers and holders of our legacies.
