Home Sweet Home šŸ—½šŸ  The Statue of Liberty calls the scenic New York Harbor home. The stretch of water begins north at the mouth of the Hudson River, then empties into the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast at the Narrows between Brooklyn and Staten Island, where the Verrazano Narrows Bridge now stands- making the waterfront one of the world’s largest natural harbors. In 1885, the statue’s sculptor, Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, wrote of the harbor: ā€œThe view when one arrives at New York is marvelous; when, after some days of voyaging, in the pearly radiance of a beautiful morning is revealed the magnificent spectacle of those immense cities, of those rivers extending as far as the eye can reach.ā€ Today, Lady Liberty’s home is a place where tall skyscrapers meet crashing waves as she stands greeting ships sailing to and fro New York Harbor.
