Dear friends, I finally get to share some exciting news—I’m going on tour playing drums in @fleetfoxes this summer! It’s a bit of a dream to have this opportunity and I’m honestly still processing it all, but I can’t wait to play music with friends whom I’ve known and collaborated with for so many years. I’m deeply grateful to get the chance to show so many people the true capacity of my musical ability. As a Filipinx-American musician, this also comes with complex feelings. It’s not lost on me the immensity of this opportunity, as well as the privilege I’ve had to put me in a place to succeed. It makes me frustrated to think about the many talented BIPOC artists and creators that will never have a chance to present on a platform of this size. This is a moment in my career that I know requires me to deepen my commitment to advocating for and amplifying the voices of BIPOC artists, and I’m promising to make that commitment. I do this for my community, myself and most importantly right now, my little Leo—a person whom I want have the tools to build the community they want to see themself in and feel empowered to do it.
