When I got sick “Team Janet” somehow formed behind the scenes. During the first days of cancer as I wandered around in shock, they showed up. I feel very familiar with the medical system now but then I had never really been in the hospital or even had my own doctor. @akoomas researched and talked to experts for me then literally chose my oncologist, @docuchick pooled money to hire a dog walker and house cleaner and organized food for me, @skylighttreehouse made friendship bracelets for all of us to wear across the country during my treatments. The night I was diagnosed I cried out for my mom in my sleep. This team stepped in to fill her shoes the best they could. They answer the phone when I call (that’s saying a lot in 2022!), they celebrate my wins with me, they listen to my fears, their existence was a comfort to me when things got really scary. I have texted this team with every piece of news - good and bad. My mom had “Team Nancy” (the most special group of women in the world) during her treatments. I was so lucky to have had my own. These 13 people are capable, smart, strong, amazing angels, forever thank you ❤️‍🩹
