Sharks of South Africa.🦈🇿🇦(full video link in my bio) I’m so excited to finally share this project that @andremusgrove and I shot back in 2019. So here’s the story... . In 2019, @amirzakeri and @justinkalaniburbage were on a ferocious mission to finish their incredible documentary titled “50 Minutes to Save The World” which now has over 12 million views on youtube. With the help of @timothysykes and @badboi and the charity communities @karmagawa and @savethereef they assembled a team to go to South Africa to put the final pieces of the project together. The goal was to learn more about the endemic sharks of South Africa, their more popular large shark species, and also the shark research being conducted there. Over the course about a week, we documented the incredible research being done by the @sharkconservancy , learned a lot about the endemic shark species that live there that nobody ever seems to pay attention to, and we were also able to dive and film the more popular Mako and Blue Sharks that live out in the pelagic zone with the awesome crew at @shark_explorers . We filmed kelp forests, cold water reefs, Catsharks, Shysharks, Broadnose Sevengill Sharks, Makos, Blue Sharks, Cape Fur Seals, dolphins, and whales! Oh and African Penguins! There is so much important wildlife in South Africa and that’s exactly why it was chosen as a main location for the documentary. I hope you enjoy this film from that trip! . For this project, Karmagawa was able to raise money and make a generous donation to shark charities to support incredibly important shark research and conservation efforts currently being conducted around the world. I hope that through this video and others like it, people will learn more about sharks, why they’re so important, and what we need to do to protect them.
