Compare my last post to 2019 when we had a pretty slow start to the year. My first ski day was high in the Wedgemount zone (1st pic) with a lot of walking on November 23 and I didn’t actually properly ski pow (2nd pic) in the Squamish area until Dec 23rd! We had a weird avalanche problem in the Whistler region that made for a lot of conservative decision making. One of the blessings of living in a Coastal snowpack is (usually) a lot of snow to bridge or outright overload weak layers but with such a thin start, that wasn’t the case. #skimo #skitouring #skimountaineering #squamish #pow #powskiing #whistler
