Introducing “Human Clickbait” my latest body of work and debut EP, featuring your fave singles “Redbull” + “Content.Mp4” and new tracks “Nepo Baby” and “Digital World.” Spotify link to the EP is in my bio!! Many of you know me for one thing, my face paint looks, but Ive always hated feeling limited by one medium. Music and performance allows me to express concepts that I cannot do with face paint alone. My transition from drag performer to performance artist with original tracks has been a long one (over two years + a cross country move in the making) but I’m so happy to announce it’s finally here! This first Jessie.Mp3 project is personal and primarily encapsulates the past four years of my life navigating the duality I’ve created through my artistic work. On one hand there’s my augmented, painted self which through my curated social media presence has taken on its own unique identity. My digital form (a “digitalgurl” as I like to call it) feels like me at my most authentic. Erasing my face and rebuilding it from scratch gives me a sense of autonomy and authenticity that’s hard to understand, it really allows me to show my inner world on the outside. On the other hand there’s my day to day physical self, my natural form that I’m simply born into and exist inside of. Since 2018, these two distinct forms have ruled my life and I’m constantly trying to find balance in something so specific and complex. I also like to think about the inbetweens like what happens when the digitalgurl steps out of the Instagram square and exists in physical space? Or when the image of the physical girl appears online? How are you supposed to navigate reality when other people just see you as clickbait? What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be digital? I really hope you guys enjoy this project as much as I do. The BIGGEST shoutout ever to the producer/collaborator of my dreams @cancercrush who produced, mixed, and mastered this entire EP. I’ve had the time of my life sitting in the studio experimenting and working on music with you. The universe literally brought us together so we can create together 💖 I love you so much.
