This is a hunt we all look forward to every year. Pennsylvania has a rich history of hunting camps that I believe is dying off. We are doing our part in keeping that tradition alive. We always try to get together for the first day of trout season, a day in spring gobbler season, some summer fishing trips, and sometimes in rifle season. But the big hunt, when everyone is together, is the flintlock camp. I think collectively it is our favorite weekend of the year. We put on some deer drives, make a ton of food, and the last 2 years Nate has made trivia for camp. We share stories of our past fall hunting season and plans for this coming season. This was our 5th annual flintlock hunt. What started as a small group of 5 of us, is now 15. The past 4 years we never got a deer. Plenty of chances and plenty of misses, and that’s not from a lack of effort. This year we fine tuned some good deer drives from last year and added a few new ones. It paid off with us seeing 8 legal bucks and I think we all lost track of the does we saw. I would put an estimated number around 30-35 does. Noah had the hot seat on the final drive of the day. He put a sharp shot on a doe just 4 yards away in the middle of a blizzard. Our first deer together as a crew. Honestly, we could go 50 years without killing a deer. We will still have the best time out of anyone on the mountain. I’m working on editing the video from this hunt and will hopefully be out soon. #hunting #flintlock #camp #pawilds #nature #deer #deerhunt #publicland #mountain #hiking #deerdrive #buck #bigbuck #outdoors
