Three years ago at the bar of a Brooklyn restaurant a friend asked why I hadn’t yet written a cookbook about Colombian food. I took a sip of wine and found myself word less. That same night I grabbed a notebook and started writing a list of all the dishes and foods from home. I divided them by moments, times of day and visualized gatherings around them. All inspired by the places, people and flavors I grew up with in my home country. I wrote the last few ideas when the sun came out. That is how my new cookbook was born. A personal catharsis as a Colombian woman who left Bogotá for Big Sur 22 years ago, pursuing a dream of a career in the world of food.
