Inconsistent engagement is quite possibly one of the biggest struggles anyone faces that’s actively trying to grow their Instagram profile. Have you ever looked at your posts and wondered why 1 post does really well and then the next 5 all bomb? Most of the challenges comes down to 3 CORE issues. 1️⃣ Your hook didn’t resonate with the first group that saw your post. Because people are scrolling through Instagram so fast, you literally have to do a pattern interrupt, something that stops them in their tracks where they are compelled to find out more. This is easier said than done, but if you focus on creating more curiosity, you’ll have more success: Example - “I can’t believe this happened to me today...” 2️⃣ Your image either didn’t mesh well with what you’re writing about OR there’s too many distractions - poor lighting, cluttered backgrounds, difficult to read text, or a lack of clarity on what’s in it for someone to engage. One of the easiest ways you can combat this is to do some research. Go look at other pages that have high engagement and look at their style. Ask yourself: Are they using word graphics? Do they create educational videos? What do the thumbnails look like? How is the content presented? And what can I model and incorporate into my own brand without directly copying? 3️⃣ Your story lost them along the way. Even if you have a great caption/writing hook and amazing picture, if what you write in the body doesn’t take the viewer on a clear journey, you’re likely going to lose their engagement. So before you write, ask yourself what your intentions are. To entertain? To educate? To empower? Once you know the intention, break up your paragraphs and deliver on your promise in a simply and easy to read story. AND that’s it! Once you understand these core problems you can begin to create more consistency with your engagement.
