On Sunday’s potluck, Lorna Velasco of Sariwa Farm @sariwafarm will be sharing stories about growing saluyot. @sariwafarm is a half acre farm on Coast Salish land, owned and operated by Lorna Velasco. Sariwa means fresh in Tagalog, one of 200 languages in the Philippine archipelago where Lorna grew up, she is from a long line of farmers and fisherman. Her practice is one of bayanihan (mutual support and collective action) focusing on limiting carbon footprint and retaining cultural heritage. She grows vegetables that she incorporates in dishes that she knows will make her ancestors giddy; bittermelon, garlic, tomatoes, luffa, okra, eggplant, molokhia, moringa to name a few. RSVP (link in bio, via mighty networks!) and see you Sunday! 🗓
