DC Girl the badass rescue mare. She is my idea of a woman...commanding, takes zero crap from the fellas in the yard, let’s you know when she is pissed (usually by breaking a fence board clean in two), knows she is beautiful in her own special way, and snuggles in for the best heartfelt hugs (now that she has a family she trusts). When we rescued her from an all but certain horrific demise in a Canadian or Mexican slaughterhouse, the racing breeder and former owners refused even to consider caring for her. Irresponsible breeding is neglect that leads to cruelty.
