Rough backstage try at the theme from a monumental TV show that turned 50 this week. Been meaning to do a clip with this new (old) guitar and it’s my last chance before A) the guitar gets dropped off at home this weekend B) While the piece is still timely. Excuse the noise - It’s SO hard to find quiet on tour- here I’m next to a humming fridge and backstage chatter but at least it’s not thunderous ice (see backstage clip from spring tour). Ironically, the composition (actual title “Suicide is Painless”) by Johnny Mandell was meant as a joke, referencing a comedic scene in the 1971 film with the same title - M.A.S.H. - on which the show is based. Still. I get a bit emotional playing this melody (I’m a sap, what can I say). I’ll do a better quality version at some point, when off the road. Guitar: Gibson 1964 B25 3/4 scale (raw, no effects, mix etc). Ps i usually see this done with a capo but you don’t get the low “E” that way, so decided to brave it. l admit borrowing a couple ideas from versions I’ve heard and doing a mashup (pun not intended), i hadn’t heard anyone do the harmonics (why not? Bm, they’re right there!😃) so it’s probably safe to this arrangement is mine. #mash #themefrommash #acousticguitar
