So I found an old Pride hanger in my mother’s closet about a year ago and it inspired me to do this piece. The hanger is an artifact for me because pride cleaners no longer prints customer paper hanger covers. This hanger was probably one of the first examples of a somewhat consistent branding system that made its way into my home. We were proud to walk home from the cleaners carrying the pride logo because it represented us and our neighborhood in some way, an interesting result of this is that in most cases we ended up keeping the paper sleeves on those hangers longer than we owned the actual garments.
