It’s Secondhand September, and here at @ecoage, we’re thinking of creative ways to keep our clothing in circulation for longer 🔂 .
Whilst the most common method to recycle clothing is arguably charity donations, according to WRAP, as little as 1/3 of our donated items will actually sell in charity shops.
Give Your Best @giveyourbest.uk present an alternative that ensures clothing gets a second life. The non-profit have developed a free, secondhand clothing platform, designed for women and children who are refugees, seeking asylum, destitute, NRPF or with precarious immigration status 👚 👖 .
Their digital platform allows donors to upload pre-loved clothing directly, so that UK-based women and children can shop the catalogue for free. They aim to give women the option of autonomy over their personal style, allowing them to shop with the dignity they deserve.
In current Western society, the vast majority of us own more clothing than we can use. Give Your Best are appealing for clothing, accessories and shoes - in particular children’s clothing, maternity wear and item’s size 18+. It’s as easy as uploading a picture of your item to their online platform to see your items re-homed👫.
Check out their platform at the link in the bio to start donating ➡️
