If there is one move every surfer can gain from, it is to improve their take-off. Since every wave we ride requires one. From my experience, which dates back to 1976 when I first stood on a surfboard, there has never been a formal take-off technique and at least none that I have ever heard of or was taught. Even when I was 25 and at the top of performance surfing, I relied only on speed and athleticism. To my surprise, as I got older, my take-off suffered. Sometimes it was embarrassing, and other times it caused me stress when surfing waves of consequence. I realized I had no foundation to rely on, contributing to my inconsistency in successful take-offs. Then I developed the Wave Ki take-off technique over 10 years ago. To prove it worked, I challenged myself to take off as late as possible on some extremely hollow waves breaking in shallow water over a sharp reef. With possible severe consequences if I didn't make it. I never fell, and that's when I knew this was the best technique in the world. I still do my Wave Ki take-off forms every day and urge my pro students to practice as well. See @parkercoffin at Pipe winning the back door shoot out. The advanced frontside wave ki take-off was developed to help a surfer establish control from the very moment you stop paddling and begin getting up on the board. Once learned, this lesson has techniques within to give any surfer an advantage, whether a super late drop, a take-off deep on a point or to generate instant speed in weak surf. This move opens the door to having fun on many different types of waves. Please don't take my word for it; many surfers of different levels have signed on to practice Wave Ki to improve their surfing. Ask them. 🎢music: Temptation by @neworderofficial πŸŽ₯: @jamiettierney @harrydott @carlocoral @mynamescameron πŸ„πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ„β€β™‚οΈ: @maxbeach82 @kellyslater @parkercoffin @waveki 🎞 @drumedia @waveki photo of Parker by @whothephotoisjohnking
