My colleague and friend Lizzy got married on Thursday. It was supposed to be 150ish people at a posh Chinese restaurant in Manhattan,(Shun Lee, for those of you who know). They were set to get ready and take portraits at The Carlyle. The styling was fresh and cohesive and it was going to be something super unique! I was pumped for this wedding. ...And then last week the covid numbers went through the roof. Guests were testing positive— it wasn’t looking good, and then I got a phone call from a bride in tears. Lizzy being the careful person she is, made the painful choice to cut the guest list by 2/3 and move the wedding to her parent’s house in Rye. The florals and stationery still felt like it belonged inside of Shun Lee and everyone still wore their red carpet outfits— the show went on! It was a delight.
The call to pivot was made 3 days before the wedding. No dates were changed. A caterer was hired. Rentals were booked and it felt like we were at a wedding months in the making. Most people could not have pulled it off but my friend did and with grace. Mad props, congrats, and happy birthday to this get-it-done women @emlan_events !! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
