How to build mental flexibility 🧠 1️⃣ Interrupt and redirect your thoughts When your thinking turns negative, pause and notice the direction it is going... Interrupt the thoughts spiraling through your mind by practicing focusing on something else entirely: Try to get up and switch up the energy... Take a walk, Ask someone else about their day, Reflect on what you’re grateful for 🙏🏾 2️⃣ Get curious Ask yourself... What could be as true or truer than what you are believing in that moment that is making you feel negatively? This will help you practice taking a step back, and begin to look for alternative possibilities than the singular one you were focused on that was making you feel negatively 3️⃣ Practice empathy Understanding others’ experiences and processes helps you build mental flexibility by helping you get out of the mentality that your way is the only way to go Then when you listen, have the intention to be curious and find out why that is their perspective, without making assumptions or casting judgement Then you can go back on your own, consider who it was that offered that perspective to further assess if it resonates with you, and from there, feel out if the alternative perspective would be helpful to integrate into your own point of view Want some tools to help you start building metal flexibility?
