Vogue just lost a real one, Sr. Fashion Writer @liana_ava hangs up her headset at 1 World Trade Center. Liana was the first writer to give me my big break in Vogue. I got a couple of calls that morning when my ex-coworkers at Westwood caught wind that I had just been crowned “Instagram's King of Corsets”. That was back in 2019 and it’s been a wild ride at Pechuga since. Over the years Liana and I would bond over our mutual love for art history, our penchant for “extreme eye-wear” (this one landed us both on The @colbertlateshow) and the power of story-telling through fashion. See, Liana didn’t just shed light on my own obsessive behavior, as a writer for Vogue she was instrumental in sharing the stories of so many beautiful characters that makes this a community. Personalities like Serena Morris from @shes__underrated , Marie Laboucarié of @ninagabbanavintage, Raiden Francis of @theraidenco, & Monica Sallay of @sartorialscraps were people that we saw periodically on Vogue’s website and became a mainstay on our collective feeds.
