"My hair sculptures are made with locs or braids because these hairstyles were not always deemed as beautiful or cool in the western society, although culturally it was always beautiful. My designs are large and rebellious while embracing my Jamaican roots as we do not follow trends we set them. I incorporated the colour of green as its grounded in nature, belonging and roots, an idea of where we come from allows us to flourish into the people that we become. Maybe these portraits can inspire other up and coming hairstylist to continue pushing the boundaries of hair art."
