let’s try on The Sunscreen* from @necessaire ☀️ this is a broad spectrum mineral sunscreen with SPF 30, and it’s packed with 20% zinc oxide and hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and squalane. it has the consistency of a traditional lotion – it absorbs easily if you’re applying a small amount, but if you’re applying an adequate amount for proper sun protection (about half a teaspoon for your face and neck, or three fingers worth of product), it’s on the thicker side. it took me a little over two minutes to fully blend out, and it left a noticeable white cast on me that never really went away until I covered it with makeup. it didn’t pill, and I do love the finish – it’s very dewy without feeling greasy, and it left my oily T-zone looking pretty matte. on the skin, I find it to feel like a traditional mineral sunscreen – a bit heavy; I can definitely feel it. it also settles into my fine lines, like the crease on my eyelids and underneath my eyes, so I constantly have to keep blending it back out. because of this, I probably wouldn’t wear this in the summer or when it’s really hot outside – I feel like it’ll break up on my skin and melt away in some areas.
this is a solid sunscreen, but with so many options out there, I don’t think it’s one I’d reach for daily. I love that it’s packed with hydrating ingredients, and it’s fragrance-free so it’s great for sensitive skin, but the noticeable white cast, heavy feeling on the skin, and settling into fine lines doesn’t make it a winner for me. I think I’ll save it for the winter or use it up on my body. what do you think?
