Three years into teaching, and today was the first time I took a day off—just for me. A true mental health day. For so long, I believed that taking time off meant I didn’t care. That if I wasn’t there, everything would fall apart. In three years, I’ve only ever taken one sick day—only because I physically couldn’t get out of bed. And even then, I pushed through the rest of the week, thinking I had to. But today, I stepped away. And guess what? They survived. Do I know exactly what got done? No. But I do know that everything will still be there tomorrow. And I’ll be better for it. Teachers, take the day. You deserve it.
