Living the Mallorca dream. Former New Yorkers Tatiana Baibabaeva and Tyson Strang, cofounders of hit ceramics studio Terra Coll Clayworks, never imagined that a short-term trip to the island in the fall of 2020 would turn into an extended stay and spark an interior design career. Today the couple share a sensitively updated, 300 year old farmhouse (shown here), an art practice, the thriving interior design firm @terra_coll_home, and a growing family. Of the farmhouse, Strang says “Our first job was to strip everything that wasn’t old and beautiful in our eyes. We kept anything time worn.” Once the original stonework was revealed, the creative duo experimented with surfaces, hand-applying tadelakt, a waterproof Moroccan plaster, to the walls and covering the floors in pebble mosaics. “As designers we seek out hardworking materials and surfaces that have longevity but that also have a hand-touched organic quality,” says Strang. “The finishes are the decor,” adds Baibabaeva.
