I didn’t see good communication growing up, and it became more obvious the deeper I got into my marriage. The tone and facial expressions I would get from my wife during conversations became so normal that I had no choice but to figure out what I could do to help her and myself better understand me. I knew I had to fix the way I articulate my thoughts and feelings. That’s why I created something to help me solve this problem. When I played football, I worked my butt off to fix the things I wasn’t great at because I wanted to show up for my team in every possible way. I made up drills, created exercises, and sought help from my coaches to get better at those deficiencies. I don’t have coaches or teammates anymore, I have myself. But I know I have what it takes to put in the work; I just needed to create the system. I believe we all have that in us, and I believe the most work should go into the people we care about. That’s exactly what I’m doing now, and it’s paying off.
