Venice was Europe's major center for luxury glass from the High Middle Ages to the Italian Renaissance. Production has been concentrated on the Venetian island of Murano since the 13th century, where many innovative glassmaking techniques were developed. Among them is rigadin, in which glass is blown into a bronze mold that imparts a ribbed surface, as seen on the graceful botanical shapes of this contemporary chandelier. The chartreuse green leaves are ribbed and decorated with white detailing. The brass-plated structure has 24 exposed brass sockets. 📸: @michelcontessa
