⭐️NYC Post Pt 2:TEST DAY! The only word I can think of to describe yesterday... EXCRUCIATING!!! I would equate it to giving birth, being in labor for 24 hours and then having to push for another 7 hours straight! Yes!!! THAT painful 😂Yesterday, I took the Redken Haircolor Certification test for the first time! I say “first time” because it’s not uncommon to not pass all or part of this test the first time!😳 Knowing THAT... makes it even more intimidating! Passing this test is a requirement for all Redken Artists, RE’s & RCE’s. I spent every spare second I had the entire week in NYC, literally studying! I ate, breathed and slept studying. My bed was covered in my flashcards & and books & manuals! I wasn’t very social outside of class, because I needed to keep studying! I was SO nervous, I cried getting ready, I couldn’t talk to Andy before going because I knew I would just cry harder. I put on my game face and I went! The first portion was the Technical part of the test. We were to do 8 different color techniques to our manikin with specific instructions AND it was timed😳😳😳 I was shaking, I was so nervous! This was a 90 minute segment. Time sure flies when there’s pressure! I felt pretty good about my work🙌 Next, was a 90 minute written test that was all haircolor challenges “what would you do” “whats the best way to fix this” and “why did this happen?” essay questions! 😳 Those 90 min flew so fast & I literally had a brain block on one of the pages, so that page I did not finish. I left for lunch in tears and I couldn’t stop crying. I was shaking from my nerves letting down. I didn’t want to go back. I sat in the sun, & ate alone while tears continued to be uncontrollable! I DID go back, and hit the next 90 minute written test head on! This one was multiple choice! I finished a few minutes before time was up & I felt good about my answers! I would say I CRUSHED this portion of the test! I was SO GLAD to be done! I hugged our Director of Training, Dhaniel & I UGLY CRIED! All I can say is, it was the hardest darn thing I have ever done! And I am a better person and I will be an even better stylist, mentor and educator because of experiencing it!
