Landing in Venice on Christmas Eve! Some photos of the getting there, an overnight flight from NYC to London, then another flight from London to Venice. Bringing mom and grandma, met them at the airport.. when I saw my mom waiting at baggage in Venice for me I almost CRIED from relief! It was a long night of solo travel, my longest yet, and I think it was just starting to hit me that despite all my travels and my solo trips, when I landed.. I’d be in a new country on my own for the first time and the nerves just flooded in. Thankfully mom’s flight arrived first and she was waiting for me, and it was such a strange feeling seeing an extension of myself somewhere so far from home! I’m forever grateful I was able to plan and fund this trip, so grateful that mom & grandma were there with me. Then we navigated the journey from the airport to Venice, and I felt the nerves fade away, shifting into excitement. The other day I posted about how nervous I felt for this trip- that as an artist inspired by travel, my biggest fear being travel is kinda like.. such a mental trip. My goal for the new year is to be more transparent about the struggles of traveling with travel anxiety, and I want to share this trip with you more through the lens of how HARD it was for me, which means I’m even PROUDER for being able to do it.
