When @stevenfernandez told me he wanted to introduce me and @lucky.chalm to a young, sustainability-minded Kiwi beauty brand called @emmalewisham a year and a half ago, I was skeptical. However, having had the immense privilege of working with Emma for over 17 months, it’s been so inspiring to see how one woman’s tenacity and big-picture thinking can really make a huge, quantifiable and lasting change to the global beauty industry. ⠀ After so many months of strategizing, planning and brainstorming, today we announced that Emma Lewisham is the world’s first carbon positive beauty brand at a product level. There are so many elements to unpack and explore for a brand, especially a beauty brand, to get to this point within their supply chain, and it’s been such a learning curve working through every step of this campaign and global milestone from the very start (I’ve spent more time on the phone with @liam__sharma than anyone else in the last 6 months). When Emma, Liam, @isabella_caselberg and I started brainstorming about how we could amplify this announcement globally, we threw some BIG names out there, listing people who have made it their life’s work to create enduring, global change for the environment and climate. ⠀ It started with sending a letter to Dr. Jane Goodall’s team, and it ended in securing such a strong endorsement from the iconic conservationist herself (the 14 year old me who was convinced she would become a Zoologist has literally never been more excited to receive an email) about Emma Lewisham’s achievements. ⠀ I am so proud to have been working with this brand and the amazing team behind it from what feels like its inception, and I’m so blown away by the INCREDIBLE @lucky.chalm team who worked tirelessly on this campaign (@haalsj, @adriennefaurote, @runawaydrey, @kristilarsen, @zoegertz @morganborkowskii - all the best in the business).
