#thegrayman just came out this week!
That means I can probably post about it! 🤐
This movie was the first BIG production I worked on, and it was one of my first jobs EVER under #ambulancefilmrentals
...
Life was just starting up again after the pandemic, I was relearning how to socialize with the fellow humans, and I was starting a new company in an industry I never knew anything about.
I don't think anyone in my circle really believed it would go anywhere. I never really had any desire to be in the film industry. But I saw an opportunity.
And that very shortly led to The Gray Man!
And HOLY SHIT, I was thrown into the FIRE! I had to become an *actor fast!
I had to act like:
- It wasn't my first business call
- I'd negotiated contracts before
- I knew industry lingo
- I'd been on a set before
*I did not act in front of a camera (this time!)
I had to act like I knew what I was doing, and I probably failed. I didn't have enough experience to fake experience. But I got the job, and it was time!
My heart was pounding that first time I pulled up to the set! It took a world of effort to get out of my car. I hadn't socialized in over a year, and didn't remember how to start a conversation.
I felt like a lost child, and every step brought me further into uncertainty.
"How am I supposed to 'act'?"
But, It wasn't long before I found my footing and got lost in the awe of a giant production.
There were duplicates of the same house being built inside an airplane hangar, just so they could be blown up. And a Porsche mounted with a Crane filming Ryan Gosling speeding past my ambulance.
There was a private convenient store on set. And everything was free. Imagine a 7-11 stocked with a Whole Foods snack aisle, with a omelette chef, and a drink bar. 🥹
And a wild peacock hung out with me while I was eating steak dinner.
Disney couldn't have made a more magical moment
---
It's been over a year, with 30+ productions under my belt, and I still keep my TGM ID visible.
My time on The Gray Man was the point where my confidence solidified and I knew I could handle anything the industry threw at me.
or at least act like it
