Love wins! A message from our CEO, Tim Chi: Today we celebrate an important step in the advancement of marriage equality with the passing of the Respect for Marriage Act. We actively supported this legislation because we believe marriage equality is a fundamental right that directly impacts the lives of the couples we serve, our wedding pros and our employees. As an organization, The Knot Worldwide plays an important role in helping remove barriers that prevent people from celebrating who they authentically are. The legal recognition of same-sex and interracial marriage honors the inherent humanity and equality of historically marginalized communities. To mark this historic legislation and support continued efforts, we’ll be making a donation split across local organizations that advocate for LGBTQIA rights. And while this is an important milestone, we know there is more work to be done to ensure and protect the rights of the LGBTQIA community, and to address, more broadly, barriers to true equality for all. With the risk of the Obergefell v. Hodges decision being overturned, and the current Supreme Court case of a website designer that may invalidate a Colorado anti- discrimination law, the work is far from over. TKWW is committed to engaging on issues that impact our communities, particularly those that impact women and the LGBTQIA community. The TKWW leadership team and I believe it is more important than ever that we use our reach, presence and influence to have a positive social impact.
