Lately, intrigued by the fascinating zeitgeisty dialogue around nostalgia and innovation, I found myself ruminating on my own past experiences—while pondering what the future means and ultimately, what might it look like. What's Contemporary was an incredibly simple, DIY project, powered by curiosity in the nascent days of digital platforms, a new ripe landscape. It was a fun project, one that afforded me the luxury of engaging with contributors like Glen Luchford, Ezra Petronio, Katie Grand, Willy Vanderperre, Alastair McKimm, Jaime Hawkesworth and an amazing array of creators; but it was one I had to walk away from when the growing demands of @thesocietynyc —then a new company—required full bandwidth capabilities. While we are all facing new hurdles today—some soon to be gone, and others no more than the symbolic demise of old systems to be replaced—we are in wait, anticipating the exciting rumbles of change; like a floodgate, once open, unleashing a fiery and effervescent course.
