José James out now worldwide!! 🙏🏽🤍🕊️ Honored to work with a legend - thank you to Moby and my brilliant longtime writing partner @taalimusic for helping me craft such a beautiful and fragile meditation on loss, love, hope and change. As many of you know my sister Sue passed away this time last year after a long struggle with substance abuse. It’s never easy to lose a family member or someone you love but there is something hellish about the emotional roller coaster of addiction and alcohol abuse. I can’t tell you how many times I heard that my sister was going to die - so many times that, when it did happen, it didn’t feel real at all. It’s complicated. My sister was brave and fought her demons to the best of her ability. She wasn’t dealt the best cards in life and she left behind a lot of joy and good memories. But the passing of a loved one also leaves behind a lot of pain and unanswered questions. And when Moby sent me this gorgeous and fragile track last year while Taali and I were in Amsterdam, we found ourselves asking some deep questions: What do you ache for? What do you breathe for? What do you dream for? This song means so much to me and I hope it brings some light and understanding to anyone who has struggled with loss.
