We ended the winter of 2022 marking our hardest season. We ended 2023 marking our best season. Not because of the normal measures of any type of success that is post worthy but because this Christmas break we actually got to sleep in, our boys love their teachers, our middle found his bestie at school, J and I can get through bedtime routine without wanting to die (on most nights). You know when you’re riding a bike and the chain slips a bit then you keep pedaling in hopes that it aligns again. This past fall it’s like the chain that holds our little bike together has started to align and we can finally pedal forward. I’m holding onto this tiny feeling of hope this season and bringing it with me into every season moving forward. When the boys were little I would know that if we woke up and it was a hard day then we would wake up tomorrow and it would probably be easier. It was back and forth like that a lot. Now it’s more than days it’s been seasons that have been hard and I’ve finally learned that nothing is forever. It’s been extremely humbling and part of the reason I haven’t posted in this space! Remembering is a hard thing for me but I don’t think I can forget this one. I’m grateful for 2023 and this video that this app spit out and reminded me of all the good and fun and some of the people who have come into our lives and been a gift this past year! I can’t wait to see all that comes out of 2024. My word for the year is “clean” and I’m putting that here too so I can look back and remember! Here’s to getting rid of all the things in life that aren’t meant to stay, letting go, and walking away lighter and more free, clean!✨
