Since the 15th century Venetians have traded beads. In the 1800s when trading with African territories they adapted their glass beads to reflect the colorful African vibes. Today some artisans still produce those rich opaque African patterns and colors. @rialto.79 has a collection of these vintage beads from the 1930s to the 1960s - and some older. It’s an amazing mix of cultures and craft. If you visit the shop, ask the owner for vintage beads. They are kept in her bead laboratory around the corner from her main shop. It’s one of my favorite shops for authentic Murano beads with an african flair!
