The beauty device market is the fastest-growing skincare segment set to reach $45.9 billion by 2030! So you are bound to see many devices across your IG. LED devices are getting a lot of attention these days with many people struggling to understand what actually works what doesn’t, and why?
Here is a breakdown of what to look for:
1. Skincare is a commitment, not a miracle. Do not expect miracles and be cautious of devices claiming to deliver, say, it will take 10 years off overnight.
2. Quality. There is a direct relationship between quality, efficacy, and safety in device technology. There is a price tag attached to skin-care devices. Many popular devices range from the low hundreds up to $600 or more. However, for those interested, devices can pay off over time. While a facial is a one-time experience or products run out, an at-home device last for years and can either extend time between in-office treatments or provide an at-home treatment.
3. Numbers matter. When comparing devices, look at the nanometers or wavelengths. This will determine the efficacy and ultimately the results. Red light to help calm inflammation and promote skin recovery should be around 630nm. Infrared to restore skin around 830nm. Blue light clinically proven to target bacteria to eradicate breakouts at 415nm-465mn.
4. Safety. FDA-clearance denotes safety or look for application of FDA-clearance. Also look for eye safety with any LED devices, such as built in goggles.
