MY BUSINESS IS ONE YEARS OLD TODAY 📖 🎈 A year ago today I set up @bergstrom.studio completely on my own, with no financial backing. It came after having to take a considerable amount of time off work due to burnout (which most of you probably already know). And after that difficult period I realised that I’m usually so busy focusing on what I want to do that I rarely take a moment to take in and celebrate the things that have happened. So taking a moment to acknowledge and celebrate today feels like an important and healthy step for me. At the time of launching I had a vision for what I wanted to build but I never imagined it would grow into what it has in its first year of conception. I am immensely proud of the authors I represent and the talent and impact their writing has on the world. I feel so lucky that my job involves working with and consulting so many different types of authors and writers. Today we are a team of three with fifteen authors signed to the studio and we are consulting both published and aspiring authors around the world, offering one-to-one consultancies to help demystify this weird old idiosyncratic industry that I love so much. The business promised to spend the first year fundraising for a grant to support an underrepresented writer and I am so proud to say we’ve reached our goal and have completed fundraising - we are now working to be able to announce the criteria for applications in the coming months. And incase you missed it, I’ve also launched a substack called “Something to Say” to create a more accessible offering to support and reach more writers, and also to put more of my own writing out into the world. I wanted @bergstrom.studio to be a home for writers to connect and grow and I think we’ve achieved our mission. And I can’t wait to see what lies ahead in our next chapter, especially having @meganstaunton on board.
