To celebrate Lennox Grae’s 7th birthday we surprised her and her sister with a trip to Disneyland. It was pretty amazing, they didn’t notice we landed in LA—and not NY—until like 45mins into the drive from LAX to Anaheim at which point Locke asked why there were so many “Hawaii trees.” Then, when we got to the hotel, which was across the street from Disney, they stepped out on the balcony and noticed the rollercoaster in the distance and finally put it all together. The next morning we linked with some of Lenn’s best friends, and their grown-ups, and did 13.5 hours of Disney (but who’s counting?). The unfolding surprise was a smashing success, and Walt and Co. did not disappoint. I don’t think I’ve ever seen our kids—or any kids, for that matter—so happy for so long.
