Last year I got the opportunity to direct a short film, written by and starring my sisters @_amandla and @kinetakunutu with the @thesacchichproject (@j.l._espinosa and @madjoymadjoy) down in the Yucatán of Mexico with a group of artists and friends. What we made is VUKA, in a sense this was a ritual piece; one where you find your way home...realizing that home has always just been inside you all along. Sisterhood, wit, tenderness, power and magic. Thank you to all the artists that worked on this film and the lessons on the way. Like the magic of birth (as this was in a way...), this too takes a village. 3 overnights and countless hours of prep and cultivating and alchemy. The team of artists we manifested for this project was unbelievable and I could not have done any of this without every single one of them. I have the most gratitude for our entire team and everyone who donated to make this possible. ✨✨😛🤞🏾🔮 Produced by: @thesacchichproject Directed by: Sohina Sidhu Written by and Starring: Kineta Kunutu and Amandla Jahava Voiceover: Thandi Kunutu Executive Produced: Madeleine Joyce and Jose Espinosa Produced by: Tatiana Fenner and Josh Greenwood Director of Photography: Rikki Porter Edited by and trailer: Luke Martin Music and sound design by: Zack Segel Animation by: Ethan Jeremias Production Design by: Elsa Rinde Costume Design by: Cole McCarty Assistant Director: Malcom Nicholson Script Supervisor: Kendall McKinnon Assistant Camera: Jadzia Erskine Gaffer and Grip: Oscar and Bob Sound: Pete Christmann PA: Hayward Leach Trailer music: Disco Matanga (Yambakhana) [feat.
