BREAKING: Congress just passed the IRA — the US’ first meaningful investment in climate action. The IRA is not the Green New Deal but it's a start. Everything that is good in this bill is thanks to movements. Without the movement for a GND, there would not be an IRA. But, our job is not done today. The IRA abandons too many communities fighting on the frontlines of fossil fuel pollution, and it is full of too many giveaways to the industry to put us on the path of decarbonization. We have so much work to do to stop the climate crisis and end the era of fossil fuels. The vision of the Green New Deal and ordinary people coming together to organize against all odds created this political moment. And, as sure as the sun rises each morning, we know we can do it again and again until we win a livable future for all of us.
