“Hood Politics (For Free?)” a Na’ye joint on canvas, 2021: acrylic, spray paint, aluminum foil, sand (LA, Miami), gel transfers, skateboard grip tape, newsprint (Vibe Magazines), swisher sweets, Lino block prints on rice paper. “Smile in my face, but are you happy for me? Yeah, I'm out the way, are you happy for me?” The end of swishers sweets/ backwoods era had to go off with a bang. This piece and another was left unfinished from last fall and I hate letting works gon unresolved and needed closure. So I could move on, I went through a lot over the year, pain, sadness, peace, love, blessings and shifted towards different era with my art and personal chapters. Even weirder still to use a material I haven’t used in a year deliberately like the backwoods, but this and other came from that time period. Looking forward to my what’s in store. (Also nothing is ever the end, folks who been with me since the beginning knows shit get revisited when time hits). “I choose me”
