“to do this together with a group of badass inspiring women... how special and rare. I am empowered to go further and longer... to reach new heights.” This summer we came together with the @shejumps community for a fundraising mission atop Mt Hood (Wy’East). Getting to the top of Mt Hood was about much more than the summit. We were there for a shared mission, a shared message. That women and girls want to be outside, regardless of their background and experience level. “chasing opportunities to connect to nature... and to each other.” Partnering with @shejumps and @adventuretripr allowed for us to raise funds and create opportunities for women and girls via @shejumps programming. SheJumps (a 501c3) works to increase the participation of women and girls in outdoor activities. “partnering with nature, SheJumps creates safe, educational outdoor experiences for girls and women that nurture growth and transformation.” The ladies who signed up for this adventure did so knowing that the conditions would not be ideal. An 11:30PM wake up call, an atmospheric river. On our first try our guides told us that we would be the only cars in the parking lot, and they were right. It was no surprise to us because we know that women show up for each other, even in the worst of conditions. That is how we bond, that is how we show others what we’re made of. We made it to the summit on our second attempt, June 21st. For those who signed up and didn’t make it to the top, you were right there with us. Because at @womenwhohike we don’t do things alone. We do things with the support of our community. We’re thankful to our guides at @kafadventures who helped lead the way, @adventuretripr for helping us to create this opportunity, @onxbackcountry for providing scholarship opportunities, and to @shejumps and their continued work for women and girls in the outdoors.
