I hadn’t “worked” in nearly three years. I was driving for Uber. (lol) The audition came from my manager Genevieve in July. I still got excited seeing an audition come in, but those days they were few and far between. The less you work, the less opportunities there are to work. “I’m never going to book this.” A new Showtime show. With JGL and Kyle Chandler. From the Billions team. The audition comes in while I’m on vacation, so I jerry-rig a setup, shoot the tape, and head to the bar where I forget about it immediately. “I’m never going to book it...” ... TWO MONTHS go by. And I book it. The show.... THE SHOW!!! It’s cliche but I cannot fully communicate my gratitude and appreciation for this show. To Brian, David, Beth, Paul and Allyce - thank you for taking a chance on me (even if you didn’t realize it, too late now 👹). To the author Mike Isaac, massive respect to all your brilliance in writing the book. To casting director Allison Estrin, thank you for the audition even though I looked nothing like Ryan at the time. To the amazing directors & writers, our fiercely talented ✊🏼I.A.T.S.E. CREW✊🏼, ADs, camera, sound, lighting, wardrobe, hair/make up, props, sets - these pros busted their asses to bring this show to life. Without them none of this is possible. And of course.... ❤️the cast.❤️ The people I now consider good friends. Who treated me (a self-perceived nobody) as an equal. With kindness and respect. The most humble and hilarious group of actors. Who allowed me to be me, to be vulnerable, and help allay my imposter syndrome. My time on set was so special and those days so memorable. I had never felt as welcome by a group of people, professionals or otherwise, as I did with them. When I was a kid dreaming of being an actor in Los Angeles, *this* is the experience I dreamt of. I cannot express my admiration and esteem for everybody on that call sheet. I’m endlessly honored to say I was part of it. Thank you for reading.
